Week 47: Dark

Week 47: Dark
Figures: GSC Konjiki no Yami and Bleach Play Arts Kai Kurosaki Ichigo
"The mystifying gazes of Konjiki no Yami and Ichigo pierce through the darkness"
Comment: Was pretty surprised by the Ichigo figure. Not quite the best but still pretty impressive. And just to have a sole light source to contemplate both figures amongst the darkness gives this a nice fit to the theme, I think.

Week 46: Fluffy!

Week 46: Fluffy!
Figures: Nendoroids Rinko Kobayakawa and Manaka Takane
"Rinko and Manaka relax on the soo comfortable and fluffy blanket.
Rinko: I wonder when Nene will get here...."
Comment: This is so adorable! I love how I was able to put both of them in a lying down pose. Another one of my bests and favorites!

Week 42: Macro Shot

Week 42: Macro Shot
Figures: Nendoroid Drossel
"That's waaay to close to the camera, Drossel!"
Comment: I was going for a close up look at the floral design on her helmet. I guess rather decent I could do without a proper macro lens. And I know I should've dusted her off a bit better.
Doing quite a bit of catchup here, as I posted on the "Unforgettable" post. Since I'll be posting up one theme per post from this point on, it may not be too helpful to say what next week's theme would be...(well, @ least the next two posts, following this one are Fluffy!, and Dark)

Week 41: Unforgettable

Week 41: Unforgettable
Figures: Figmas Saber, casual, and Emiya Shirou
"Ready?.......1.......2.......3......
AWWWWWW!!!!!"
Comment: Came out pretty well, finding an idea for this theme was a bit difficult.

Having a lot of things going on at the moment so I got backtracked a bit. Got a lot to try and cover before the end of the year...

More Past Themes Covered

Here are two more past themes I had to cover. Kinda surprised that I've covered so many missing ones already!

Week 9: Self-Portrait 2010
Figures: Figma Sabers (Original, Alter, Lily and "Extra")
"The portrayal of the many faces of Saber"
Comment: This was a difficult theme. This idea came up when I realized I had 4 different figmas of the same person, yet each of different personalities....or something... eh, I think it works well.

Week 15: Overcast
Figures: Figma Konata Izumi Winter Uniform
"Konata: Hmm, glad that I brought my umbrella along. Looks like it'll rain...."
Comment: This one was done off my camera phone. Good to have Konata and my camera phone handy for this shot this morning. And coincidentially, it did rain later in the afternoon! Ironic!

Week 40: Reflect

Week 40: Reflect
Figures: Figma Blackrock Shooter

"Blackrock Shooter yet continues to traverse the barren wastes on into the unknown future"
Comment: I had the concept: Just that it didn't come out how I expected. This will most likely be revisited later down the line.

An additional note, I am thinking of making up some new photos to revisit some past themes. Some I feel I could do better. Those might come back later down the line as an addition; not to replace.

Next week's (41) theme is "Unforgettable". This one's going to be a bit of a challenge.

Past Theme: Week 13: Pleasure

Week 13: Pleasure
Figures: Figma Mio Akiyama

"Mio take some personal time to really adore her precious bass guitar
Mio: Elizabeeeeth!!!!!"
Comment: Kinda done quickly but came out nicely. I tried to make it close to looking like she's kissing her guitar

Monday, September 20, 2010

Week 39: Daybreak

Week 39: Daybreak
Figures: Alter Caren Hortensia
Comment: Done on a morning prior to heading to work. The morning glow before daybreak is being shown.

Didn't really have much to comment on this one. Next week's theme (40) is "Reflect"

Many Past Themes Covered Plus More To Come!

As I posted in my main blog, I have an opportunity this week to do more shooting so I'm trying to take care of some past themes while I have the chance.
This post probably has the most covered so far at one time (6). Here I'll list them according to date:

Week 6: Surfaces
Figures: Figma Blackrock Shooter
Comment: Have a mound of dirt and rocks in my front yard. Gave a good feel of desolate and ruined landscape that seemed to fit her pose well.

Week 12: Children
Figures: Nendoroids Rin Kokonoe, Kuro Kagami, and Mimi Usa; Figma Aegis
"After buying balloons from Aegis, Rin playfully runs off with Kuro close behind..."
Comment: Not really any comment. This one mostly came out how I expected it to be.

Week 14: Blurred
Figures: Nendoroid's Yui Hirasawa, Mio Akiyama, Ritsu Tainaka, Tsumugi Kotobuki, and Azusa Nanako
"The camera goes off midway from Azusa adjusting the settings for their school club photo"
Comment: There were several ideas that came into mind for this; It almost ended up with a light writing idea. This one was pretty fun to do!

Week 30: Sky-High
Figures: Natsumi Hinata
"Natsumi enjoys her flight among the setting sun"
Comment:Had to hold this one up while taking the picture. I couldn't get a nice sky shot if it were set upright on the base (she's tilted forward for this shot).

Week 32: Best Friend
Figures: Figmas Azusa Nanako, Yui Hirasawa, Ui Hirasawa
"Yui jumps into the two in the middle of their conversation.

Yui: Hi Ui-chan. I wanna have some ice cream when we get home!
Ui: Y...Yui-neechan?! "
Comment: The idea was the driving force to take Ui out of her box. Seems to fit...

Week 36: Round
Figures: Max Factory Kousaka Tamaki
Comment: Oh I LOOOVE this shot so much! You can guess how this photo relates to the theme :P

Whew, ok, that's quite a bit. I just gotta say again that I love that one I have up for "Round"! I still got a few days this week so I will try and cover as much as I can. As for this week's theme "Daybreak", I'll put that picture up on the weekend.

Week 28 (and 29) and *Ahem* I'm still having a crack at this!!

Ok, so a bit of a hiatus since my last post and now I am obviously behind on a few themes, which I will list on the latter part below. But as to at least complete one of those themes, here's "Summer Fun". The ones in charge of the PhotoFriday site were on break at that time so this theme actually covered 2 weeks; so this is actually
Week 28 and 29

Week 28 and 29: Summer Fun
Figures: Gashapon Natsumi Hinata, Adult Ver.
"Living up to her name sake, Natsumi enjoys a relaxing time at the beach"
Comment: Was a best opportunity when there was a family gathering on the beach at the end of the month. Gathered a few to bring out and took a few nice pictures. Bringing Natsumi was definitely intentional for this specific theme.

With that done, here are a list of the themes that occurred during my inactivity. Just as I said I'd have a go at the previous previous themes missed, these will be the same case.

  • (30) - Sky-High
  • (31) - Crooked
  • (32) - Best Friend
  • (33) - Photoshop Skills
  • (34) - The Street
  • (35) - Warm
  • (36) - Round

Week 27: Bloom

Week 27: Bloom
Figures: Nendoroid Petit Megurine Luka
"While finding a good idea for this theme, Luka comes to me with a picture from the San Diego trip.

Luka: 'How about this picture? Would this one do?'"
Comment: Didn't have a lot of time to think of this theme and I remembered this shot taken when I was down in San Diego in May.

Next week's theme (28) is "Summer Fun".

Week 26: Motionless

Well, rather than doing this one after Anime Expo, I was actually able to do it in the middle of the 4-day event, and on top of that with a figure I got there that I was surprised was there:

Week 26: Motionless
Figures: Nendoroid Petit Noel Vermillion (!)
"Noel waits anxiously as the doors to the convention hall open shortly for Anime Expo Day 3!"
Comment: I was completely surprised to find Noel here! I had the idea of having Noel staying still while the crowd in the background would move about, causing a motion blurred effect, but I wasn't able to set the camera up to do so. This effect works also since on Day 3, I was there 20 min. before they allowed anyone in. Then this inspiration kicked in >

This week's theme (27) is "Bloom".

I have my own coverage of Anime Expo 2010 on my main blog, if you're interested. Not hard to find in there, I've done so many posts about it already...

Week 25: Stand Out

Week 25: Stand Out
Figure: Griffon Deformate Saber
Comment: This was the only one that I was able to dish out for this theme. I guess it fits the theme pretty well...

The theme for this week's challenge (Week 26) is "Motionless". This one may be delayed a bit since I'll be attending Anime Expo 2010 this week.

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Week 24: Heavy

Week 24: Heavy
Figures: Figma Emiya Shirou
Comment: My first idea for this one was to have someone carrying something or someone large, but this concept came out better.

The theme for Week 25: "Stand-Out".

Week 22: "Arranged" and Week 23: "Aqua"

Here's week 22 and 23's photo shots:

Week 22: Arranged
Figures: Nendoroid Megurine Luka
"Luka set out some sushi for dinner. Hey who decided to include tako as one of them?"
Comment: The restaurant I was gonna get the nigiri from was closed on the day I was planning to do this one so that's why this idea got delayed.

Week 23: Aqua
Figures: Nendoroid Petit Megurine Luka
"Luka enjoys a quiet morning over a small pond in Seaport Village in San Diego"
Comment: Figuring I've been putting up some funny themed photos, not much on the somber calm type ones. I'll try and do more of these types.

This week's theme (24) is "Heavy". Again, I already have some good ideas in my head of what to do.

Oh! And the previous post before this one covered a past theme. Just making this note so it isn't overlooked...

Past Theme Week 11: "Nightlife"

One more past theme to cover:

Week 11: "Nightlife"....or rather the morning after
Figures: Nendoroid Mio and MikkuMiku Kagami
"Kagamiku is having a terrible hangover after a long night of drinking.

Mio: Sheesh, well that's what you get for drinking so much "
Comment: Was always looking for this shot, with the drunken-looking Kagamiku slumped over surrounded by beer cans.

Week 22: "Arranged" Delay

Well, I had a good idea at the beginning of the week for this one and could only wait for the weekend to do it, but seems the time I was going to take the shot, the "setting" I was going to use wasn't available. And I got to thinking that this idea has been on my mind the whole time, It'd feel a waste to abandon this idea and jump to an impromptu one for the week. So I'll get around to posting this one mid-week.

In the meantime, Week 23's Theme is "Aqua".

Monday, May 31, 2010

Week 21: My Family

Week 19: My Family
Figures: Revoltech Alien x 3
"After terrorizing many space explorers for the day, the aliens enjoy a nice quiet dinner at home
"
Comment: Was struggling with this theme a bit, trying to figure out what would best represent it. I'm glad I went this out-of-the-ordinary idea ><.

This week's theme (22) is "Arranged".

Monday, May 24, 2010

Week 20: "Symbols"

Week 19: "Symbols"
Figures: Figmas Haruhi Suzumiya, Kagami Hiiragi, and Yui Hirasawa
"Haruhi: ? Yui, I asked you for ideas for this week's theme. What are you doing with all of those?

Yui: Well, this week's photo theme is "Cymbals", right?
Kagami: .................are you serious?"
Comment: Okay a play on words, but I liked the idea. I wished I spent a bit more time preparing this one though; I kinda rushed setting this one up.

Week 21's theme is "My Family". Kinda vague, I'm still thinking up some ideas I could do for this.

Week 19: The Coast

Ok, since I already had this set last weekend, no point in waiting till Monday to post it up:

Week 19: The Coast
Figures: Kotobukiya Haruhi Suzumiya Beach Side Ver.
"Haruhi snuck into my bag for my San Diego trip. She insisted on a short driving break down by the Pacific Beachside."
Comment: Glad I looked up this theme before I left on my trip. My friend told me about the Vista Point close to Oceanside and thought that this would be the perfect place for the shot.

Week 20's theme: Symbols. Took me a few minutes to think up an idea. It gave me a nice laugh that I felt it'd definitely be the one to use for this theme. Till next weekend for that one! ^^

Past theme: Bedtime

I am here to place another past theme I was able to accomplish:

Week 2: Bedtime
Figures: Gigapulse Natsume Sorayama
"Natsume lies down ready to sleep....or maybe her gaze is saying something different....."
Comment: One of my latest additions. Seemed perfect for the theme seeing she is lying down and with a pillow (?).

Week 18: Sexy

Week 18: Sexy
Figures: Orchid Seed Ryofu Housen (Gothic Lolita Ver.)
"Ryofu shows off her cute yet seductive figure in the downtown San Diego evening lights"
Comment: I originally had the idea of a sexy figure's reflection off the window overlooking the downtown lights.

We got next week's theme, or should I say this week's theme, to be "The Coast". I took the opportunity of my trip down to San Diego this past weekend to already cover this one. Glad I looked up the next theme before I left.

4 Past Themes.

Here's a midweek update covering 4 past themes:

Week 1: Square
Figures: Figma Haruhi and Kyon
"Getting ready for this year's photo challenges, the competitive Haruhi gets ready to frame her upcoming subjects.

Haruhi: Ready Kyon? We have to get the best themed pictures out there! We can't let anyone else beat us!!
Kyon: Right...Right...."
Comment: The thought of framing a subject with ones own fingers seemed perfect for this theme. Also sets up the perfect feel for this year's photo challenges! ^^

Week 3: Slowly
Figures: Figma Haruhi and Kyon
"Haruhi and Kyon enjoy a pleasant (?) and romantic (?) view of the sun slowly setting"
Comment: I kinda wish I had a better view of a sunset rather than from my front yard for this one. Maybe I will revisit it later down the line.

Week 4: Damaged
Figures: Figma Aegis and Drossel
"Drossel and Aegis came across several severly damaged computer boards
Aegis: It's no use Drossel, these are all beyond repair...
Drossel: Tch...what a loss..."
Comment: Found these being tossed out and came up with this. These were out in the middle of rain so more of a reason, I'd think, that they wouldn't have worked anyways. Did the smashing myself to exaggerate the damaged concept.

Week 10: Cleanliness
Figures: Alter Saber Maid Ver.
"Saber felt generous enough to clean my floor as I came home one day. What a sweet girl! ^^"
Comment: The suds from the soap didn't foam up high as I would've liked. Still though, I like the image and the concept.

Still chugging away to cover the other past themes...

Week 17: Sunshine

Please pay a visit to my first post "Welcome" in this blog to view it's purpose...

Week 17: Sunshine
Figures: Rena Sayers by Wave
"The suns rays shine off Rena blissfully as she walks down the beach"
Comment: Since I couldn't find a suitable natural background around my house, I improvised a bit and used one of the backdrops from one of the Figma boxes. A few creases are noticeable but I tried to hide it with the focus range.

Next week's theme is "Sexy"....this ought to be interesting...

In addition

I did mention that this blog was an experiment. I do have another blog, more general in my use. Please feel free to visit when you do so have the chance: Code Pattern Blue

Also, I came into this game late. I attempt to at least make the photos up until the end of the year. I missed a few weeks of this year and I intend to cover these themes in due time, here's a list of what has popped up since the beginning of 2010;I'll mark off ones I have covered in RED (Last Update: 9/29/10):

04-16-2010  - 'Wheels'
04-09-2010 - 'Overcast'
04-02-2010 - 'Blurred'
03-26-2010 - 'Pleasure'
03-19-2010 - 'Children'
03-12-2010 - 'Nightlife'
03-05-2010 - 'Cleanliness'
02-26-2010 - 'Self-Portrait 2010'
02-19-2010 - 'Nature'
02-12-2010 - 'Lightness'
02-05-2010 - 'Surfaces'
01-29-2010 - 'Distant'
01-22-2010 - 'Damaged'
01-15-2010 - 'Slowly'

01-08-2010 - 'Bed Time'
01-01-2010 - 'Square'

I already covered 3 and have them below:

Week 7: Lightness
Figure: Evangelion XX Chromosome Arael
"No Description"
Comment: In looking for a figure to use for the lightness theme, this one came to mind and I immediately made the shot. If I wasn't too rushed for time, I would've spent more time in taking a better shot. I still love this one though.

Week 8: Nature
Figure: Nendoroid Petit Churuya-san
"Churuya-san is awestruck by the tall tree and feels so insignificant standing next to it. Nyorooon~~"
Comment: Wanted to do a shot of this tree next to my house with the vines all wrapped around it. Churuya was handy at the time for the shoot.

Week 16: Wheels
Figures: Lucky Star Figmas + Ex Figma accessories
"The girls decide to head to school via a faster method"
Comment: The thought here was they are all traveling by means of wheeled accessories. I liked the idea but I think I overloaded it with all of them in a cramped area. But I spent quite a bit of time setting them up and saw it a waste not to use this. Well, a lesson learned.

Welcome!

Hello!
I welcome you to this blog experiment of mine that I hope that I can maintain and keep up with.

To put this story short, I am an avid fan of anime, manga, and video games and have done a share in figure collecting. I also like to take a lot of random photos with my Nikon DSLR camera. I often take photos with my figures a lot but sometimes hit snags on ideas to conjure up.

Enter, this blog experiment of mine. My goal is to use the weekly themes for photo challenge for photo taking. Of the various sites out there, I came across Photo Friday and saw it a good place to start. So along with each week's theme, I plan to implement my figures into each photo to represent the said theme. Not to difficult to follow along, right?

And now, knowing me, here's another otaku'ish description of what I am doing: If anime figures were "alive" ("Toy Story" like) what would their daily lives in an immense world look like? How would they react to animal, objects, etc. 6x, 8x, or 12x their size? Thus, this blog's title. It's an interesting thought, one that I decided to attempt to show if that were the case. I'm pretty sure that we've all had our share of toys that we wished were alive at some time or another...

So there we go! I hope that this experiment goes well and wish me luck!

EX: I should be posting once weekly. If I do do one in the middle of my usual posts, most likely it'd be of covering past themes.
